Opposite to popular perception, larger women are not the only ones who wear large wedding dresses. A good instance of a famous public figure who lately debunked this myth is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge previously Kate Middleton, who wore a amazing dress during her wedding to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. The prince’s mother, the late Princess Diana, also wore a large wedding dress during her wedding to Prince Charles in July 1981.
Both women have somewhat slender figures although their gowns were elegant variations of large wedding dresses. Princess Catherine had a simple gown made to fit that had a tail with a length of nearly five meters. The dress marvelously brought out her body and created an feel of innocence unconquered. Princess Diana on her part wore a wedding dress that had an even longer tail of almost 10 meters. This trail complimented the dress gracefully by adding splendor to the classic, flowery sleeves that set tongues wagging in the fashion world and wedding sector for almost a decade.
There is no denying that larger women look great in large wedding dresses but slender women need not shun this style. This is especially so if they would like to create the fairy-tale wedding ambiance that conservative people like.
To choose large wedding dresses forward of the ceremony, it is important to know the bride’s measurements and understand their personality. For slender women, such gowns look best when tailored to match their body shape although larger women would look better with loosely fitting gowns.
At the same time, the personality of the bride must remain in mind. Old fashioned ladies do not mind wedding dress trails and the livelier their personality, the longer they prefer the trail to be. On the other hand, liberal women prefer shorter or no trails at all and the livelier their temperament, the higher up they desire the hem to be.
Whatever a bride’s taste, a tailored, large wedding gown seems to be good on virtually all brides.
