It is no suprise to know that, there are many people who attend the wedding will pay attention and discuss on the centerpiece at the reception dinner tables, especially if this centerpiece is beautiful and unique.
So, to have your guests enjoyed your wedding, why don’t you consider having a fun game around the centerpiece? Here I would like to give you some thoughs on how to give the centerpiece out in a funny way.
20 Questions Games
The first game is running in this way: Prepare 20 questions first before wedding reception begins, and then in the middle of the reception the MC or DJ can go to one table and ask 20 questions, one by one. Each question will have some information provided before answering, like it is an animal or a plant, a person or a tool. Then people in that table can shout the answer if they know and the MC or DJ will reply with “Yes” or “No”. The person who first answers the question right can take the centerpiece as a gift. And the game is said to be finished for that table. The MC or DJ will then move on another table and doing the same thing until all centerpieces are given away.
Number Calling
Another very interesting way to give out the centerpiece is by numbering. First before wedding reception begins someone needs to put a sheet of paper, which has a number written, at the bottom of the centerpiece. Then during the reception each guest at the table should have a number assigned. While at some point in time during the wedding reception, the MC or DJ can start the game by calling out a number. The guest with that number can take away the centerpiece as gift. If you are creative enough, you can do more with that.
For example, you may want to set a smaller number, like 1 – 10, for each table. Then the MC or DJ can move to each table and has the guests to do certain action certain times, such as do “head, shoulders, knees and toes” six times. The guest who does it faster can win the centerpiece back. While moving to second table, the DJ or MC can request the guests to sing the alphabet 3 times or sing “twinkle, twinkle, little star” three times and again, the person who does it the fastest can take away the centerpiece.
Create an Item
How about another game, which a guest should produce an item based on the requirements set out by the DJ or MC? First they will move from table to table, saying out loud at that table that they required to produce something so as to get the centerpiece back. For example, they will ask for a Georgia quarter, a mint, or a doctor’s appointment card. No matter what the product is, the guest of each table who can make an item based on the requests can win the centerpiece back.
If you want to make things easier…
There are some easy ways to give out the centerpiece. For example, give it out to the people who are the eldest, or based on some interesting things like the longest time to finish a college. You can even give the centerpiece out to the people who has some very specific talents, as voted by the guests at that table. If the situation is permitted, let this guest show off his/her talent to all the guests.
Music Chairs
If you are in favor of music chair, you may want to consider playing this game in order to giving out the centerpiece. Firstly somebody will take out a one-dollar bill and the MC or DJ starts playing the music. While the music is playing person at the table will need to pass around the bill. When the music stops, the guest who holds the bill can take the centerpiece back. Or to alter the rule a little bit, when the music is stopped, the guest who hold the bill will be out of game and, guests are continuouly being out until there are only one guest left. This guest will become the person who can take back the centerpieces.
Other variations
There are other variations that can be used to give out the centerpiece including:
- Traditional way: Give the centerpiece out to the birthday person, or to guest who has the birthday which is closest to the wedding day.
- Marriaged couples: if there are several couples at the table, find out which couples are being together for the longest time, or the couples who got marriaged recently.
- Funniest way: Give the centerpiece to the guest who has the longest hair, or wearing the strangest shoes. And of course it is subjected to the vote by the guests at the table.
Indeed there are many ways that can be utilized in order to giving out the centerpiece. However, you may first want to find a centerpiece which is suitable for you. Check out this centerpiece and our ulitmated wedding guide and see which wedding accessories are best suit for you.
